Georgia State Cyclocross Championships

December 5, 2011

The Sorella Cyclocross team raced at the Georgia State Cyclocross Championships on December 4. Everyone has a great race! The beach is a Georgia Cross icon.  Lisa Randall won the Silver medal for the state championship in the Women’s 1/2/3.

Bamacross Under The Lights

November 21, 2011

annistonOn Saturday, November 19th Beth Gearhart headed over to Anniston, Alabama for the Alabama State Championship cyclocross race. The women raced 1/2/3 and 4s together with about 13 ladies lining up at the start. A difficult and unrelenting course saw Beth start strong with a shot at the podium but then fading at the end to wind up 7th. A long and rideable sandpit and the “beer fairy” providing handups made it a great time!

The Georgia Cross season continues! The cyclocross team of Beth Gearhart, Kim Wiley, and Trish Albert had a great time in the Women’s 1/2/3 at the Centennial Cross Crusade in Roswell this weekend. The course was a classic Georgia Cross course. Beth could also been seen in the Singlespeed race; for the first time ladies went up against the guys in SS. We’ve been joined by quite a few Sorellas doing the CX4 race. Come out next week to Marietta to race or cheer us on! More cowbell!

Ride Report: Sorella Cycling Women’s Training Ride on the Silver Comet

August 30, 2011

trainingrideWhat an impressive turn out for Sorella Cycling’s Silver Comet Training Ride!  Close to 50 women turned out to ride a stretch of the Atlanta’s beautiful Silver Comet Trail.  The morning started with Sorella race team members setting up plenty of fluids and baked goods to fuel our participants.  Other race team members directed the registration process and helped with bike maintenance and equipment adjustments. Several women expressed concern over riding in groups, as well as their ability to keep up with other riders.  Of course, Sorella’s knowledgeable race team was there to calm fears and gives mini skills clinics to all riders who were in need.  By 9:00 am we were all ready to roll.trainingride2

Riders had the option of a 20 mile or 40 mile ride.  Sorella racers were spread throughout the group making everyone feel comfortable at the pace that suited them best.  The trail was clean, shady, and relatively flat giving participants the terrain they needed to practice their riding skills.  All the cyclists met their goals and completed the mileage they set out to ride with no injuries or setbacks.  When the groups returned everyone was able to enjoy each others company, as well as one last treat.

‘Back in the saddle again’

August 9, 2011

tiffanyWe’re very happy to see Tiffany Barlow back in the saddle after a high-speed crash on her road bike a few weeks earlier. Not only is she back on the bike, but back racing. Shown here at the SERC finale at Fontana Village this past weekend.
