The 2017 Tour of Southern Highlands Stage Race ( takes place March 3 – 5, 2017 at a new and exciting location. The Friday and Saturday events will be in Woodstock, GA with the Sunday event being held in Ball Ground, GA. This is the first major road race of the season and we are soliciting Sorella volunteers to help out again this year. Showing our support to our local race promoters goes a long way, plus they count on volunteers to make the event successful so lets show our support and get out there and represent our club well!

The race promoter has offered a discounted entry fee for any Sorella (whether you are on the race team or not) who wants to volunteer and enter this stage race. Your volunteer assignment will be scheduled around your race times so there will be no conflicts with that. You may even be able to choose what kind of volunteer position you would like (on course, chase/wheel vehicle, registration, etc) if you share your intent to volunteer in advance and if those positions are available. We had a large number of Sorella volunteers last year and a lot of race entrants as well and look forward to repeating that this year.  It’s really cool to be on the course sideline while volunteering and seeing ladies from your club passing by in the heat of the race. On the flip side, imagine being out there working your hardest in a race and you hear your name called out and it is a Sorella sister cheering you on, that is quite exciting!

Additionally, the race promoter is looking for Host Housing to offer to the out of state athletes or teams that will be here for the weekend. A host house has some basic requirements for the athlete(s): a place to sleep, a bathroom and shower, use of your kitchen, use of your washer and dryer and a safe place to store the racer(s) bike. If you are in the general vicinity of Woodstock or Ball Ground and would like to consider being a Host House, visit for more information.

If you have any questions or would like to volunteer at the event(s) or be a host house please contact Angela Barros ( to let her know. She will coordinate our club’s volunteers and coordinate that with the race promoter.

Finally…if you are not able to volunteer but will be in the Woodstock or Ball Ground area that weekend, come on out and cheer on our Sorellas! They would love to see you out there supporting them and our club!
